Giardini di Augusto

Lose yourself in these gardens, where bougainvillea spills over terraces. Pause at the Belvedere—a balcony overlooking the Faraglioni. Here, time stands still, and the sea sings its eternal ballad. Originally commissioned by German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp in the early 20th century, these terraced gardens offer breathtaking views.

Imagine flower-decked terraces overlooking the Faraglioni sea stacks on one side and the Bay of Marina Piccola and Via Krupp on the other. The scent of blossoms mingles with whispers of ancient mariners, and the panorama stretches from limestone cliffs to azure waters.

While the switchback pathway to Marina Piccola is currently closed, the Gardens of Augustus remain a slice of paradise—a place where time stands still.

Via Krupp

Descend the serpentine Via Krupp, a feat of engineering that hugs the cliffs. Imagine the whispers of scandalous affairs as you wind your way down to Marina Piccola.
Commissioned by the German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp in the early 20th century, this paved footpath covers an elevation difference of about 100 meters (330 feet). Krupp, who moored his yacht in Marina Piccola each summer, wanted a scenic route to connect his suite at the Grand Hotel Quisisana with these picturesque spots.

Via Krupp snakes gracefully down the cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the azure sea, the Faraglioni rocks, and the lush vegetation. The path’s serpentine design adds to its allure, making it one of the most beautiful trails in the world. The path leads to Marina Piccola, where you can enjoy the sun-kissed beaches and crystal-clear waters. Take your time to savor the views and capture the magic of this enchanting island.

Aperitivo Hour

As the sun dips, join the fashionable crowd in Piazzetta. Sip limoncello or a spritz, and watch the world go by. The sky blushes, and Capri’s magic intensifies.

Via Tragara and the Natural Arch

Follow Via Tragara to the Belvedere di Tragara. Here, the view is a canvas—azure sea, limestone stacks, and yachts sailing toward infinity. For the adventurous, hike to the Natural Arch—a testament to nature’s artistry. Begin your journey at Piazza Umberto I, Capri’s famous “Piazzetta.” From there, follow Via Tragara—a peaceful path flanked by lemon trees and glimpses of the azure sea. The luxury Quisisana Hotel graces this route, and you’ll find vendors selling fresh lemon juice. The walk to Punta Tragara is flat and easy, but brace yourself for stairs and rises as you continue.

Arriving at Punta Tragara, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas. The Faraglioni rock formations come into view, framed by the deep blue sea. Take a moment to absorb the beauty and tranquility. From here, the path becomes less crowded, leading you to the next highlight.
